Warrant

What is the name of your state? Florida

After recently moving to another state, I went in this evening to a local sporting goods store to purchase a gun for protection in my home. Law requires NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Center) checks into my criminal records, as well as our state police files. My state approved my request to purchase firearm, but the FBI "delayed" my request for up to 3 days. In looking into the matter further, I found out that I am wanted in my previous state of residence for "fraudulent activities" according to the FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) website.

When I purchased my criminal history report from the FDLE website, it shows no criminal history records.

To my question - obviously I can not just take off and go to Florida to figure this all out, as I now live in Indiana. I certainly can not call and expect the Sheriff's office to divulge this information to me over the phone. How can I find out what this is all about and get it resolved?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The warrant would not be on your criminal history record because there is no history yet. Your first step should be to contact the issuing agency and inquire as to what can be done. It may be that the matter can be cleared up with a phone conversation. On the other hand, you could face some serious criminal charges and will have to retain an attorney.

Only you know what you might have done or been accused of in FL, so only you can decide for sure which course of action is best for you.
