Warrant In Florida 5 Years Ago - Now In Another State

I owned a computer store in Floriday about 5 years ago. Business wasn't doing so well and my wife's father was deathly ill. Under all the pressure, I sold most of the store fixtures and equipment to a friend. There were two computers left from customers. One my friend returned, the other somehow got on our moving truck and was mixed with our personal belongings. I didn't realize this and later discovered this after going through some old boxes after we moved to a different state. A friend called and said the local newspaper had run a story and said the cops wanted to talk to me. I called them up and answered they're questions, told them about the mistake and promptly shipped the computer back to the customer - fixed and with no charge. Still I was having financial problems and had to move out of some office space where I had called the investigator. This was about a month later, I hadn't heard anything so I thought everything was settled. Well it wasn't apparently the customer said the software was all different, which it was cause the hard drive had crashed, They charged me with theft of a computer over $1,500 !! This was several years ago, but the systemn wasn't worth more than say $300 at that time it was old then.. A warrant was issued.. I live in another state and have not been pulled over since that warrant was issued 5 years ago, yes I am very careful and lucky.

I'm not a criminal, I would like to settle this. But I really don't have the money to defend myself, and I'm afraid they may have trumped up additional charges they aren't telling me about. I don't even know if the warrant is still open for me, but it is causing a high level of stress in my life. I am very paranoid, more so recently and it is eating me up inside.

My question is, does a warrant ever expire? If not what should I do?

hello,
I recently found this site while looking for information to help me know what could be done about an illeagal search. to get to your point ...In my search I talked to a friend who worked in the warrants dept. She informed me that they keep them current for two years and then they are put in an inactive file. This is in a small county in Texas. Hope this might help you.

I found an online database there in florida and looked
up my name.. It shows the warrant so I don't know if
that means if I am stopped I will be arrested. Don't
know if that will show up on a normal traffic stop
warrants search. From what I understand since I
am so far away they are unlikly to extradite me, but
who knows how long they may hold me locally
