Warrant Served What is the name of your state? Texas
Sorry, but this is a long story....
Today my ex girlfriend who was still living with me was served with a warrant for her arrest, the charges were for revocation of probation and for possesion of a controlled substance which was fraudulently aquired (she was a nurse before having her license revoked for similar previous charges and had a habbit of calling in prescriptions for vicodin telling them she was a doctor).
What happened was the police came to my house while she was out on an errand and presented me with the warrant and asked me if she was home, I said no which was true and they asked me where she went. I hesitated for a second and told them I didn't know, but she'd be back shortly. They immidiately drove off and within about 20 minutes I recieved a call from the police department and was told she was apprehended.
After finding out what I could about the arrest and knowing the charges she's up against, it looks like she'll have to serve a considerable ammount of time in prison.
Her crimes were commited about 5 years ago and she broke probation by being indicted on the same type of charges about 2 years ago. As far as I know , she has been clean and no further complaints have been made since her indictment. Is there any chance the court system will show her any mercy for this? Right now neither of us can afford anything more than a public defender and I'm not sure what they have planned for her when she does go to trial. I think she was to serve 10 years if she broke the probation, but I broke probation about 8 years ago and had my 1 year sentance reduced to 60 days by a public defender (my crime was only a misdemeanor, but hers is a felony).
Do you think she can get a reduced sentance like I did or do you think she's going to have to serve her full sentance?
True, our relationship is over , but I don't wish a long prison sentance on anyone who has actually got their life straight since the convictions, is there anything I can do to help so that she don't have to serve her full 10 years?
Also, she has left behind her 11 year old son which I have no legal costody over and I'm not the father of, I know I can provide him a much better lifestyle than her relatives can and I'm sure she'll want me to continue taking care of him until she's out. Will I run into any kind of trouble getting him registered into school, or getting him medical care if she does prefer me to keep him with me and his younger brother who is my son? |
