What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? - Illinois

I have a friend that is currently being charged with theft <$500.00 that he stole from his place of employment. Now it has been a year since his warrant has been issued and all of his friends tell him that after 1yea and 6months - 3years his case will go away since the statue of limitations. Is this true, will his warrant go away or since they issued the warrant it will always be active till he turns himself in?

No, warrants do not expire. No, statute of limitations does not magically erase his actions in 1.5-3 years. You cannot go around committing crimes, be charged with them, and "wait out" the warrants.

Your "friend" should make new friends, preferably a criminal lawyer, ASAP.

Nope. His criminal friends are wrong. He needs to consult with an attorney to assist his to deal with this criminal matter.
