to what extent can a search be done??

What is the name of your state? Texas

If a person dies in a home from an accident but was pronounced dead at the hospital, to what extent can the police legally search the home. In this case a baby drowned and the entire home was searched. Is this legal or not.

We need more information. Autopsy information would be terrific; did an autopsy of the baby's corpse produce signs of illegal substances?
