what will happen


What is the name of your state? illinois

about a month ago i was caught shoplifting from a store and i was charged with retail theft. i went to court and filled out an affidavit and the judge told me another court date to go back and that i was getting a public defender( i couldnt afford a lawyer) well to the point i was wonderin what will happen at the hearing and with this being the first time ever getting in trouble with the law will that make my sentecing lighter. is it more likely that i will get community service or pay a fine?
