Where am I safe?

I'm in California now, and I haven't had any problems since I left UT. When I left UT, I left behind a traffic warrant of which I recently learned, and something a bit bigger: I absconded on a year's probation on a Class A Misdemeanor from back in 2004. Now, I don't know exactly where it stands now, and I intend to find out once I can obtain a decent lawyer. I do know that, according to the county in which I was arrested, I have no warrants. That struck me as weird, but this is beside the point. I recently heard that maybe the reason that I haven't had any trouble here in California is because extradition/rendition laws prevent them from messing with me. Is this true? If I were to decide to leave California for say, Texas, Colorado, Oregon... Where can I continue to lead what has become a law abiding life long enough to clear my past up?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
