Will I be arrested?

A few weeks ago, an ex-girlfriend from months ago called me up and told me I could pick up my stuff that i had left there (TV, clothes, etc)... When I went there, she hit me a few times and then pulled a knife on me and then when I got most of my stuff out of there I ran up the street to get away from her; she called the police. She was drunk and out of it.

I have spoken to the girl since then, she told me she didn't even know why she called the police and she was just drunk and felt bad for hitting me, she told the police everything, like how she pulled the knife on me and that I was an ex. The police arrested her for assault with a weapon right away and about 1 hour after I had taken off out of her place, police called me and asked if they could meet up with me for a statement. I gave them a statement and told them how I did not want to press charges but they told me where it is domestic that they would be arresting her anyways.

So, she was arrested for assault with a weapon (for pulling the knife on me). When the police called and asked to meet up with me, and I met up with them further up the street the incident happened on; I told them everything that happened and then I told them that when she pulled the knife on me and came after me that I talked the situation down with her and got her to hand over the knife (which she did, I actually begged her to just give me the knife at the time). I then gave the police the knife and a statement and then went home.

Now 3 weeks later, I heard from the girl that I may be arrested and her lawyer wants me arrested because it looks suspicious that I was found up the street with the knife on me. I was told that it doesn't look good because I ran away from the scene (my reasoning: she just pulled a knife on me and was hitting me and it was her place) and that I was carrying a weapon (my reason: I took the knife she was going to stab me with from her to protect myself). So I had the knife on me and thought I did the right thing handing it over to the police. Did I incriminate myself in any way? Will I be arrested for carrying a weapon? It was just an ordinary kitchen knife if that matters too... I'm not too smart or good with the law but I can't believe I may get a criminal record out of this...

If the police have her confession that she was the guilty party in this encounter, I fail to see how you can actually be held liable for anything. However, it never hurts to have an attorney backing you. Many attorneys will offer free/cheap consultations, so take advantage of this and sit down with a couple to see what insight they may have to offer.

From what you have posted I would say she is full of baloney.

Running away and waiting for the police to arrive would be the correct call here.

I would not speak with her again. It sounds to me like she is playing games with you and hoping you will incriminate yourself.

Also, what Occultist said.
