What is the name of your state? California

I was in a accident 7 months ago. i havent recieved any information up until 3 days ago saying that i owed $4000 dollars to the insurance company to pay damages on the other car. i didnt have insurance at the time and because of that lost my license. i wanted to know if they can still collect from me even though its been more the six months.
any advice would help

6 months is a very short time in the insurance industry. They could have taken a couple of years.
