accident after right turn

I had an accident in UT, after I did a right turn. I finished the right turn and drived a half block. Then the car behind me hit my car from rear and right side. The policeman gave me a ticket. He tought I did not yield when I turn right. Is this my fault? What should I do? Thanks.

If you had actually completed your turn and were half a block down the street, you would have been struck square in the rear. Since you were struck on the rear SIDE, that proves that you had NOT completed your turn and did in fact fail to yield to the other driver. Physical evidence doesn't lie. Drivers, on the other hand, lie all the time.

Thank you for your fast reply. I want to make the situation more clear. After the right turn, I stay in the right lane. The car behind me hit my car at the RIGHT rear and RIGHT side. The car behind me ran into the right curb. If I did not finish the right turn. I would expect my car should be hit from the LEFT side. Does this make any diffrence? Thanks.

What was the speed limit on the road, and how long was the block(how far did you travel)?

So, you're saying that after you turned in front of him, he swerved to the right to avoid you?

Yes, that is what I think. Also, I suspect that he was speeding, but hard to prove. Thank you for your reply. Do you have any suggestion what I should do now? Thanks.

You are at fault. The other vehicle had the right of way and had to take evasive action to avoid you, and was still unable to avoid hitting you. Report the accident to your insurance and let them handle it.

The speed limit is 35 mph. I traveled about 200 yards.

I do not ADMIT that I caused the problem. I drived about 200 yards after I made the right turn. Then he hit me. Why is it my fault? After I made the right turn and drived 200 yards, it is just the normal drive. Since he hit me, he should be at fault.

After I drived 200 yards after the right turn. It is just like the normal drive. He hit me from the back. Why it is still my fault?

Does anyone really buy her statement that she drove the length of TWO football fields before she was hit?
