My brother in law has filed a case in the state of CT, against the state of ct.

over the last two years or so the state requests postponements. due to the fact that they keep on changing attornies. what can be done to get the defentant to the court room! thank you joe

If your brother had a lawyer the lawyer will explain how the repeated delay is prejudicing his client's case and ask that the judge set the matter for trial (or the next stage) with a firm date and on a pre-emptory basis. That way if there is a stall next time, he wins.

But judges know that there is constant turn-over in states' attorneys, and most judges are reluctant to impose sanctions, particularly most people who try to represent themselves do a very poor job, waste court time as they don't know the process, and also have lousy or trivial cases (or, the judges believe -- as it is usually the case -- a lawyer would have been handling it).
