Accident No Insurance 3 Day Gap HELP!!!

Hello, I am from Minnesota. I recently had an accident where I was involved in an accident. I was the only one involved and at the time had no insurance. However (and please no flame i know its stupid) I contacted my old insurance company about coverage. They investigated the claim and of course told me that I would not be covered. My two questions are, does anyone know for sure if my old insurance company has the right to report that I had this accident / possible claim / or that I contacted them? Could I possibly claim this on new insurance? Any ideas anyone??
