Accident with no-license driver

What is the name of your state? Connecticut

About a month ago I was involved in an accident with one other vehicle. I was alone, and the other driver was alone. I had a blinking red and the opposing sides had blinking yellow. It appeared to be clear but as I started to go I was hit on the driver's front. I feel the other person was driving excessively fast to have arrived in the interesction in such a short time, but it does appear to be my fault anyway.

I was uninjured and the other driver was uninjured. A police officer came and filled out a report. No ambulance came. I was not issued a ticket.

The officer informed me that the other driver was driving with a suspended license. I am not sure if they had insurance. My license and insurance are current. I asked the officer if the other driver was hurt or appeared to be contemplating injury. He said no, they are fine.

Today I got a letter from my insurance company stating the other driver has filed a personal injury claim. I realize the accident was my fault, but I do not want to be taken advantage of. How does my situation look? Do I or my insurance company have any recourse or liability since the other driver was driving under suspension?

Just trying to be prepared. Thanks in advance!
