Advice on Filing a claim

What is the name of your state? Tennessee

My wife was recently involved in an accident. We are currently uninsured. The other driver in the accident was at fault.

I am curious as to what steps we need to take to file a claim with the other persons insurance. The only other time I have been involved with an accident, I was insured and they handled it all. I am sure that the insurance company will be curious as to why they are dealing with us instead of our insurance agent.

I was also wondering, since she was not cited at the accident site for no insurance, can she later be cited?

I appreciate any advice you can offer.
