Almost rear ended by police

What is the name of your state? NV

Yesterday my coworker was pulled over by a motorcycle cop on the freeway.

My coworker, who is an idiot, noticed that when they got to the shoulder the cop was pretty close behind him. So when he hit about 15mph he slammed on the brakes just to be a jerk. The office was not expecting this and almost rear ended him. He got a ticket

I'm hoping I don't get yelled at for posting a hypothetical, but Idiot says the officer was following too close so it would have been the officer's fault. I know that in 99% of cases the person who does the rear ending is at fault, but would that be the case here? Since he needlessly slammed on the brakes with the intent to cause an accident would it have been his fault?

IMO, the cop might be at fault for rear ending him, but there are multiple criminal charges he could be brought up on for intentionally causing an accident, which would likely bar him from any possible recovery. He's lucky he only got a ticket and wasn't arrested.

I disagree...intentionally stopping short in order to cause an accident is illegal. And, the State has a pretty reliable witness about the situation.

THIS I absolutely agree with.

I think we all agree on that.
