Attorney or Without Attorney

What is the name of your state? San Jose, CA

I'm looking for some advise on how to handle a recent accident happening to my wife. Basically, I don't trust attorney very much. To me, they are just sitting around doing nothing and get 33% out of the settlement. So should I go with one?
Does anyone have any good experience with any accident attorney in San Jose, CA recently that can refer me to? TIA.
