What is the name of your state? MD

I just read this somewhere:

"The top of a settlement range is called the Authority. That's the highest figure assigned by the insurance company that the adjuster isn't permitted to exceed without further approval. "

Is that top range the limit of your liability then?

No. It's just the amount that an adjuster can approve without getting permission from a supervisor. Has more to do with the adjuster's experience than anything else. I'm new so my authority is 0, I have to get approval for everything.
