auto accident

What is the name of your state? new york i know someone who went into a ditch on icy roads...hit an old farm ploy the person damaged his truck left and went to friends house.the friend called tow truck and went to truck to get it towed using his tripple a card,so the friend didnt have to pay for towing is there anyway anyone can get into trouble..
