auto accident

my 17 year old son moved out of my house about a month ago. for the last week, he has been staying with a couple who have been allowing him to use one of their automobiles even though they know he does not have a drivers license. yesterday he had a bad auto accident (only one vehicle involed) injuring himself and totaling the auto. he was ticketed for careless operation, no drivers license and no seat belt. we live in louisiana. what are the legal ramifications for him, the owners of vehicle and myself?

My response:

You have no responsibility in this matter. Your son has criminal charges pending, and the owners are "out" one car.
