What is the name of your state? Florida.

My husband was driving the company truck home from work when a child ran across the road and he hit the child. The child died at the hospital. The police determined that my husband did everything right (he was not at fault) and even the witnesses said there was nothing else he could have done to avoid the accident. The case was closed less than a week, but now the company is being sued and our personal insurance also.

Is it necessary for us to get a lawyer?
Can they go after our personal properties, for example: house and bank accounts?
What other suggestions do you have, if any?

Thank You for your reply.

If you want to have ANY chance at winning, yes. Your insurance will provide one for you. Contact your agent and let them know of the suit.

If they get a judgment against you, they can go after any non-exempt assets allowed by your state laws.

See above. Get your insurance company involved.
