I live in New York and recently had my auto insurance cancelled due to late payment of premium. I had to obtain auto insurance through a state program and they tripled my annual insurance premium. Question: Can auto insurance be inflated this significantly due to late payment? I thought the premium was based on other factors e.g. driving record, auto usage
