auto insurance for son

What is the name of your state? NC

I live in NC and my son use to live with me. I bought him a car and the car is still in my name. He has since moved to SC with his mom. He is 19. I no longer want to carry him on my auto insurance. My question is: Am I liable since the car is in my name? Do I have to transfer title to remove him from my insurance? I have talked to him about getting his own insurance but he hasn't made that a priority...

As long as the car is in your name then you will have to carry insurance for it. Give it to the kid and tell him to enjoy working for aliving to pay the insurance.

**A: then he is still a kid. Why should it be a priorty when he has you to continue paying the insurance? Transfer title to him and let him get his own insurance.
You will be helping him to learn to grow up.
