What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? New Jersey

Last night, in Montgomery Township, Somerset County, I hit a deer on a dark wooded road. The only damage was to my car - no other cars or property was involved.

I've called my insurance company. Do I have a legal obligation to report this incident to the police? What are the ramifications of making such a report?

Thanks!

There is no requirement to notify the police. It is not against the law to run over animals that run out in front of moving vehicles.
