    Automobile Title

What is the name of your state? MICHIGAN

My husband and I are purchasing a used car. Should we put
the title in just one of our names--or in BOTH of our names?
And if it is put in just one of our names and then if that person should
die, does the remaining spouse automatically become
owner of the car even though he/she is not named on the
    title?
Somewhere we have gotten the idea that if BOTH of our names
are on the title and then if we were ever sued, we could
potentially lose much more than if just one of us is named on
    the title.
We have asked our state's Secretary of State offices these
questions, but have been told that they cannot give out "legal
    advice."
