| | | | Being Sued? Georgia
I had an accident about a year ago, mid Febuary. Guy got cut off on a wet road, slammed breaks and I rear ended him. His truck had minor damges, while the front of my car was wrecked and had to be towed, he drove away in his explorer after the police came etc etc.
Insurance repaired everything and that was that, or so I thought...
Today I get a visit from a Shierff with a summons to show up in court, because apparently the guy is suing for injuries, lawyer fees, etc etc in relation to the accident. Looks like he is suing me directly, more than a year after the accident occured.
What do I need to do, What are my chances of being seriously screwed over by this?
Help Please |

Help Please | **A: you need to take the papers to your insurance company and talk to an attorney in the next day or so. |

Ridiclous | **A: how do you know he was perfectly fine? Are you an MD and examined him for soft tissue injuries immediately after the accident and later? |

Seems like another money grab to me
Regardless, will go visit a lawyer |

They will provide defensive counsel as part of your insurance coverage at the time.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport! |

I could see had it been right after the accident and if I had no insurance but this is just |

*** Depends entirely on whether he gets a judgment against you or not. Based solely on your post, it sounds like he could.... as you (presumably) failed to maintain control of your vehicle, failed to provide sufficient space, etc.
If he gets a judgment against you.... it is likely you will pay 'out the ass' and just about every other orifice.
