Best freind killed by hit and run driver

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Lansing, Michigan

My friend was giving me a ride home, we went through a green light and i looked to the left and seen a red pickup truck, thats all i remember before blacking out, i woke up in the hospital the next day, with my mom and my best friends mom and dad next to me, explaining to me that my friend died on impact and that the truck that hit his car was stolen and the driver fled the scene on foot, the guy hasnt been captured yet.

I suffered a fractured skull, 3 broken ribs, broken arm, broken collar bone, deep cut on my head from glass, required 7 stitches, and i dont have medical insurance, and i dont remember if my friend had insurance on his car or not.

This really hurts real bad physically and mentally, loosing the only good friend i had in my life,

i really wished i would of died with him, i dont think i could live anymore without him, i haven't seen a physiologist (excuse my spelling) yet. I dont talk to people anymore, it just hurts so bad all the crap i just gone through.

Does the owner of the stolen truck insurance required to pay for medical costs? i dont know what to do

by the way, my friend was 20 and i'm 19

It depends on the circumstances of the theft. If the car that hit you was legitimately stolen, then the owner has no liability. Your medical bills would be covered by YOUR PIP coverage, if you are covered on a car insurance policy, or your friend's PIP if you are not. I hope he had insurance.

You need to tell your doctors this IMMEDIATELY. What you are feeling is normal, but you need help to cope with these feelings.

Payment for the medical costs is not something you should spend your time worrying about right now. Your job is to get well.

You can seek help from a personal injury attorney. He or she will investigate insurance coverage for all involved and can tell you what your options are.

Justin,

You need to stop worrying about the bills and concentrate on getting well.
If you are unable to cope with the pain and mental burden then you need to contact your doctor and/or therapist. All the other issues can and will be resolved when you get better. When you are better able to handle them physucally and mentally.

Giving up now is NOT what your BEST FRIEND would have wanted!!!!

You gotta get through this if not for your own, then for your BEST FRIEND! Show him how much you love him by getting better and showing strength, not by giving up to weakness!!!

Do you have a car and insurance? Or does anyone who lives in your household have coverage? PIP coverage is available through either of those sources.
