Best time to do the Independent Medical Exam (IME)?

What is the name of your state? CA

Is it best to submit to an IME when the insurance company for the defense requests it after an auto accident in which its insured was responsible or hold off until AFTER a lawsuit is filed and do the IME as part of the discovery process?? It is well known that the IME is typically biased toward the defense, ie. the defense tries to minimize impact of auto accident and uses the IME prepare for their case. So, would an early IME undercut efforts to get a fair settlement?

Depends on what type of injury you are claiming.

Injuries are head related and soft tissue.
