I live in North Carolina and am the registered owner of a pair of jet skis. My twenty-year-old nephew likes to borrow them and use them on local waterways. If he were responsible for causing an accident, would I be held responsible for damages?

*** Yes.

The 'Personal Watercraft' liability you would have is virtually identical to that of a motor vehicle. As the owner, you are (or may be held) liable for any damages caused by you or your authorized 'driver'.
