bodily injury

aprox one year ago a person exited a driveway across an empty right lane and into the path of my brother in law who was driving my vehicle in the left lane who then hit their vehicle causing less than $1000.00 damage to each vehicle. now this person who admitted fault to the accident is sueing me for medical expences to the tune of $9000.00. i can't imagine how in the state of florida the person who was not at fault can be sued like this.
