What is the name of your state?

North Carolina

Problem:

Had accident / uninsured drunk driver, covered by my insurance company with $100 deductible.

Insurance company gets private estimator to estimate damages.

Body shop / dealership makes repairs, runs over the cost of the estimate, never contacts insurance company about it. Body Shop / dealership discovers some more damage not covered by estimate, tells me that the insurance company will cover it, but never contacts insurance company to discuss. Repairs extra damage. Insurance company already sent check for amount of estimate. Insurance company never gets back to Body Shop with supplemental check, body shop is holding me responsible for the extra, a material amount made up of the cost overrun plus the hidden damage that was discovered by the dealership. Who should be responsible for this extra?

Thanks
