My car was broken into and the door window was smashed in.
my insurance company said they do not cover glass breakage but I heard there is a federal law on this that says they must pay because it is a safty
issue.
Can some one help me out here.

What federal law? Did you purchase comprehensive coverage which covers windshield and glass damage? And if you did, is the repair estimate MORE than your deductible? That's they only way they will pay-if YOU paid for the coverage. They can't be required to extend coverage to you that you declined.

So, pay your deductible, or pay to fix your damage to both your door and the window.
