bumper... bump..

What is the name of your state? California

ok, I am 20 yrs old, currently unemployed, and no car insurance...

I was driving, and at a stop light a lady in front of me started to go, but her car must have been in neutral or something because when the light turned green, her brake lights turned off, but then she didn't go anywhere, when her brake lights turned off, I started going and hit her at about 5 mph.. I put my car in park, walked up to her and she asked if I could back up a little, I did so and she started to get out of her car, but left it out of gear and it rolled back and hit my car at about the same speed... there was no damage to either car, but now she has claimed that there was damage to her bumper... (the whole driver side of her car was smashed in from a previous incident)

now she has filed a claim with her insurance, and I owe her $702.00 because she decided to get her entire bumper fixed at my expense (there was no damage from me) and it says medical charges pending...

I want to fight this to the fullest extent that I can, but I have no clue what to do from here... I'm just sitting here with her name/address and a bill from her insurance for $702....

Pay it. You hit her, there was damage to her bumper, she probably did NOT get the whole thing replaced for that small amount of money, you have no insurance to fight for you, pay it. And get insurance or stop driving.

Actually, you will HAVE to stop driving because this accident will be reported to the DMV as required by law, and your license will be suspended.

Not at $702 - threshold is $750

I'm sorry mistyped... she refinished the entire rear bumper... at $702 because of... nothing... but at my expense...

anyway, you seem to be more irritated that I was driving without insurance than anything, so I'll go elsewhere...

just FYI the car was still in my moms name I believe... its a pain in the ass to get her to do anything having to do with paperwork or the cars...

and for me, I need to get to work to pay for insurance, and to get to work I need to drive...

but anyway... dunno why I'm trying to explain my case to someone who is just.. well whatever

no need to reply, someone can delete this thread... I won't be coming back to this site

So don't pay. Wait for them to take you to court, so you can lose, and have a judgement on your credit report for at least 10 years....when you are 30, you will wish you'd taken care of this right away and not been so young and stupid.
