can I sell a car with a lienholder?

I live in New Jersey. I've been trying to get out of debt but I have 2 car payments from VW credit.. one is leased...2000 Beetle, the second is due to the fact my son got me to co-sign for him and then his auto insurance cost more than the car payments ($6900 annually) so I had the loan put into my name just so I could register it in my name. Now, I'm stuck with two BIG car payments. Please advise me how to sell ??... or?? WITHOUT the risk of it being considered a repo???? Thanks
