Can I sue the dealership since my used car broke 10 days after I bought?

What is the name of your state?California

I bought a used car in a dealership on 7/30. I was told it was checked. I had one month warranty, but no documents. On Aug. 10, I went to some place and parked it. When I came out, it could not start. I called my friends and they came with cable, but could not jump. I had to put the car in the parking lot. The second day, I called dealership, they towed it and said the battery ran out. Later I was told it was the problem of alternator. I got my car on Aug. 16. They didn't provide rent car. I wanted to return the car, but they said no. What I am wondering is that they didn't not check the car before they sell. I asked for the documents of repair, but they also said no.
I think it is kind of fraud. I want to know if this is a reasonable situation. Even it is a used car, it should not be out in 10 days, as I think.
Please give me some advice or opinions. Thanks.

What exactly did the written warranty say was covered. Give us the EXACT words from the warranty.

I didn't get any written warranty. They said there was no such written warranty . I know it was my fault to believe a dealer. But is there anything that I can do?

ps: there is an item on the contract. It says:
If you do not get a written warranty, and the seller does not enter into a service contract within 90 days from the date of this contract, the seller makes no warranties, express or implied, on the vehicle, and there will be no implied warranties of merchantability or of fitness for a particular purpose.

Thank you for your reply.

Of course there is. Though you have ZIP in the way of a case..... you can still sue them. After all, anyone can sue almost anyone else over almost anything.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Seriously how old are you??? You mean to tell me if someone told you something you're not going to check it out to see if it's true?? Some people will spend 10 mins checking out fruit to make sure it's perfect before they buy....but a car heck no they're ready to buy something that costs thousands without a moments hesitation

What I'm wondering is why YOU didn't check the car before you bought it? You took the word of a used car salesman...
