Car accident at mechanics fault ?

My car was repaired by a certain service station.
On the receipt it states they are "not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever".

the mechanic was test driving my car and was distracted by a spider, he then crashed into a truck.

is the receipt a contract between myself and the mechanic?

if it is, does it protect the mechanic?

although not familiar with the law in your state, the mechanic/garage will still be liable for this accident. the contract which you speak of should not absolve them of liability based upon the facts as presented. moreover, public policy in many states would dissallow the garage to enter into a contract in which they can not be held responsible for their own negligence. if they are not willing to take responsibility, contact an attorney in your area.
