Car accident and unpaid medical bills

I live in Minnesota and I was in a car accident in 2001. Since then, I thought everything was settled with the other drivers insurance company as it was her fault. I recently went to the bank for a loan and there is a 1600 dollar medical bill in collections since 2006. I have not received anything about this bill. Who would I have to talk to for this bill to be taken care of? My insurance company? I do know that my total medical expenses were less than 10,000 dollars. Also, what is the time frame I can go back to my insurance company to let them know this bill is unpaid?

Thank youWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

You were supposed to pay all your medical bills out of your settlement money. Now, you have to pay it out of your pocket since you used the settlement money for other stuff. You should run your credit report to find out what collection agency currently owns it, then contact them to arrange to pay it.

As per all the documents I signed, none of which stated I was responsible for paying ANY medical bill that was associated with this accident.

After many phone calls, and the blame game from the insurance company and the hospital, the bill has been paid.

Makes you wonder how many insurance company's "miss" and "overlook" bills that they are responsible for, yet try to stick the bill with someone else.
