Car accident without insurance

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina
My 18 year old daughter had a car accident 7 months ago when she made a left hand turn in front of an oncoming car that appeared to also be making a left turn because of their slow speed. She had let her insurance expire so did not have coverage. We finally received a letter this week from the other driver's insurance company offering to settle the claim for a lump sum payment of $3200.
Is it best to pay and be done with this? Negotiate? Hire an attorney?

Why would YOU be paying this? Yes, SHE should pay it and be done with it - hopefully she will learn that it's more expensive to NOT pay the insurance bill.

For that small amount of money, YES!!! Make sure there is a provision in the settlement that releases you from ANY AND ALL future claims that might arise from the accident, including but not limited to medical, health and property damage.

Usually the claim is settled, than the person involved in the accident comes back for more money because they suffered "additional" injuries post settlement.

You are LUCKY the operator of the other vehicle isn't trying to get more from you! Because of your daughter's irresponsible behavior, she put you and your family in jeopardy. You could be facing a lawsuit in the tens of thousands of daughters, and if a judgement was won against you in a court of law, they could pursue ALL assets you currently own! Goodbye home, boat, car(s), retirement, children's college savings, etc...

Daughter is an adult. Unless OP is on the car's title or daughter still lives at home, OP will not be liable for this in any way.
