Car hit my dog

What is the name of your state? Ohio

My dog ran into the road and was struck by a car. Now the car owner's insurance company is seeking damages for the auto repair from me. At the time of the acident no police reports were filed, nor did the auto owner indicate any damage. What's my liability?

Your liability is the cost of repair to the vehicle. Dogs, or any other animals, do not belong in the street.

In some instances, yes. However, why are you apparently seeing some sort of logic by comparing a human being to personal property?
