Car was stolen. Insurance wanted estimate from their shop. Were told that they had to pay to replace to original condition, wheels were gone rotors trashed. Does this mean that they pay for OEM and if we choose aftermarket that we still get the differenc in$? I though they did the estimate, then we pay deductable, they give us check for estimate and then we can go were we want to for repairs. Is this not the case? We aren't making money, the difference might cover the deductable if anything. The body shop also started paint work before we had authorized it. We didn't want our work done by that shop. Since they started and it was in primer we had no choice in the matter. Also they are subbing out work like brakes to a chain store which we would never take our car to. They did this without us knowing. We are supposed to get it back today but am scarred to since this deal smells to us.
Please help!!!!!

You have to read your policy. It may set certain conditions on how the claim is processed and paid. You are dealing with your company which means you have to abide by the contract you signed. If this was a property damage claim against some else it would be different, but it's not. The insurance only has to pay to put the car back to the original specs. Any after market parts you added you are on the hook for as well as your deductable.

If after reviewing your policy you feel they acted incorrectly you can file a compalint with your state's insurance commissioner.
