Hello,

I live in San Diego, CA. back in July of 2000 I sold my car as a trade-in for a newer vehicle. I never filled out and mailed a notice of release of liability to DMV (until abut a week ago). The car that I sold was towed back in Dec. 2000, the dealer did not want anything to do with the car anymore because it was inoperable, and a collection agency wants me to pay them over $600 for towing and storage. Am I still liable or should the collection agency be contacting the auto dealer to whom I sold the car to?

I never did a release of liability because I thought the dealer was supposed to do that.

Thank you in advance for your help.

JB.
