Credit Collection with regard to accident

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? TX

OK. I an new to this kind of thing so I can use any advice I can get and I really appreciate any help on this.

This started with an accident in Dallas a few months ago. I was in no way involved in the accident. But I got a call from a cop saying that a witness claimed that he saw my number plate. ( It was a hit and run ). I told the cop that I never went to Dallas, the car is with me (I live in Austin) and he can come take a look at the car himself. The Cop made another cop from Austin come take a look at my car and then cleared me from the accident.

I was surprised to get a letter from a credit collection agency in March that I owed their client (an insurance company) some money. I suspected that this must be with regard to the accident above. I immediately called the Dallas Cop and told him that I got a collection notice. He told me that I am clear. Then, I tried explaining this to the Credit Collection Agnecy. But they are not interested. All they want is my insurance information. Now, I don't have problem in releasing my insurance information but since this will go on my record, I didn't wanna do that. They kept on calling me and mailing me asking for insurance information. So I sent them a certified mail telling them that I don't want togive them my insurance information but they are wrong in coming after me and to prove my point I gave them the contact details of the Dallas Cop.

Now, I got a mail from them saying that

"
a report will be sent to their client stating "VOLUNTARY COLLECTION DEEMED IMPOSSIBLE'. Further options include
1.Performing an asset search
2.Litigation
3.Notify the DMV of your apparent failure to compy with the financial responsibility of the law which may result in License Suspension.
4.Pursue collection through any other method permitted by law."

So...that's the big story. Can anyone advise me as to what should I do now ? I am legally responsible to provide my insurance information and thus staining my insurance record even though I am in no way involved in the accident ? Will it be alright if I just keep on ignoring their mails since I am not involved ? What should I do ?

Notify your insurance carrier and let them deny the claim. That is what you pay them for.
