    Damage From Stolen Vehicle

    Mississippi
A car went through my chain link fence and hit a couple of my trees the other night. The driver fled the scene on foot. The owner of the car reported it stolen the next day. Will the car owners insurance company be responsible for the damages on my property?

    My response:

If the car was truly stolen, then no. The vehicle owner wasn't negligent, and the vehicle owner is not responsible for the criminal acts of others.

Put this claim through your homeowner's insurance policy.
