I AM FROM WIS. MY GRANDDAUGHTER LIVED WITH US FOR 5+ YRS.SHE DIED IN MAY IN A CAR ACCIDENT. SHE IS COVERED UNDER OUR UNDERINSURED CAR POLICY.I HAD CUSTODIAL CUSTUDY. WHY DOES OUR INSURANCE COMPANY SAY HER MOTHER WILL RECEIVE THE BENIFIT. WE INSURED HER. CAN ANYONE HELP US? THANK YOU, HITECH55. OTHER DRIVER HAD SAME INSURANCE, BUT NOT MUCH COVERAGE.

mom probably had LEGAL custody and essentially didn't give up her parental rights. When a child dies, it goes to closest kin ==mom. Your probate code is a good source for this information.
