defamation in a small community

I'm a volunteer in a LIONS CLUB sponsored activity in a very small community. It involves supervising young children.

The program leader has filed a complaint stating that "people" have complained about my handling of kids. The leader has not supplied any evidence.

The leader only filed the "complaint" at the local school -- a public school.

repeated attempts from me to get more info from this leader about the complaints have not been successful.

Complaints have been via email.

Do I have a case?
