Diminished value claim

What is the name of your state? Florida

Our car was hit, other driver at fault. Damage to both front and rear end of our car. Their insurance company is going to fix it. The problem is that this car is a 1996 in almost perfect condition. At least it was. No paint is going to look new on a 11 year old car. So when they paint the front and rear bumpers and trunk, the car will obviously look newly and partially painted. The car will be worth less than before the accident.

How do I make a claim for diminished value?

11? That car came out in 1995, and 2008s are being sold...

And, I'm not finding where FL recognizes it anyway.

Quite easily, actually. Just send them a bill for $4.29 with your payment information in it.

No, I didn't bail. I was out of town. Sorry to ask a question not to your liking. The amount is irrelevant. The fact is that a wrecked and repaired car is worth less than a non-wrecked car. Whether it is $100 or $10K, value is value.

I am not sure where the courteous helpful people went since only the smart mouth idiots decided to respond to this post? Guess I will know better than to visit this site again.

Since you all lack the knowledge or intelligence to make a useful contribution, I will educate you. Recognized or not, it is common practice in Florida to claim and be paid for diminished value. All I asked, simply, was how to do it. When unsure, make fun.

Since you seem to want to make fun of an "old car", I assume you all have a fancy car and good for you. I am sure that makes you important. I happen to have a waterfront home and a $300K boat behind it. We have an "old car" by choice. Don't judge a book by the cover.

Since you know that it is common practice, you should know how to file the claim. Good luck. Good bye.
