Do I file a police report for property damage on private property?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Hampshire

During plowing operations in a parking lot of a customer, one of our drivers backed into a light pole causing damage. Do we need to file a police report? We may or may not file an insurance claim, depending upon the extent of the damage. Will that make a difference as to whether a police report is filed?

A police report should not be necessary. I assume there was damage to the truck only not to the pole as well.

In new hampshire a police report is a must if the apparent damage exceeds 1000 dollars.

A commercial light pole probably exceeds that threshold.

The on private property does not matter.
