| First and formost, consider yourself lucky that your son still has a face. (I am not being dramatic, I have worked with large breeds for protection training and I know what kind of damage they can do). Rottweillers are one of the large breeds that tend to clamp down and lock their jaws when they bite. They shake and tear their prey. Small dogs bite just as often they just don't do as much damage. I live in Kentucky. Here, if the dog has a history of being a biter, you can insist that he be put to sleep. You can check with your local law inforcement to see if any complaints have been filed in the past on the dog that bit your son. Of course the owner must pay for any medical treatement needed and the dog will have to be observed for rabies. The sad part of this is, it is not the dogs fault, but a very negligent owner. Rotts are a wonderful and loyal breed, but they only have instinct and what they are taught. If we don't teach them, they only have instinct. |
