What is the name of your state? Ohio
I know someone that drove a car without a license and scraped the car on the side, coming into a yard from an alley. The scrape was caused by a fence post. The owner of the car gave permission to this non-licensed person to drive the car, and he knew the person didnt have a license. What liability, if any, does the driver without a license have to make amends for repair? If liability is bestowed on this non-licensed driver, does he have the right to get several estimates? The owner of the car doesnt want to claim it on their car insurance, because of fear their rates will go up. If the owner takes the non-licensed driver to court about the issue, will the owner be liable also because they allowed a non-licensed driver to use their car?

Non licensed driver is liable, afterall he was driving. When you driver, you are suppose to be in care, custody, and control of the vehicle. The owner is extremely stupid -- if unlicensed driver kills someone on the road, wrecks another car, or whatever .. car owner can be liable for letting unlicensed driver drive his/her car, knowing driver was unlicensed. Similar to letting a drunk drive your car, letting your 12 year old drive your car, etc...
