Factory or Owner Operation

What is the name of your state? VA
I have been driving a particular (make) vehicle for almost 20 years. My most recent purchase was made at a new dealership due to my salesman relocated. I purchased a 2006 in May of 05 and the car has been a little trouble. I am driving a manual in heavy traffic (been driving manuals for 18.5 years (same series & manufacturer)) and my clutch had began to give me problems. Initially I contacted a local dealer where I was working and they said there was nothing wrong w/the car. When I took it to another dealer, they said the same thing. I pleaded w/both dealers to do something, but after 14 weeks, 6 trips to both the dealerships, and countless hours being spent at both, they finally said it is the clutch. Now they are saying it is not covered in the warranty and I will have to pay for replacement. I feel this is a slap in the face! I contacted the headquarters and they stated that this is a dealer-call and not the headquarters as the manufacturer of the product. After all the loyalty and constant references for others to purchase a vehicle (and some did), this is what I get? This is mostly their fault for not looking at the problem, but playing guessing games. So, I have to pay for their lack of knowledge? They have deliberated after my complaint was filed and agreed to pay half the cost for the parts and labor for replacement of the clutch and refinishing the 'fly-wheel' which had hot spots on it (as stated by dealer). Total cost was $2500.00, now reduced to $1248.50. Should I take this gracefully and pay it with a smile? What are my options? What is the name of your state?

A clutch is considered a wear and tear item, how many miles had you gone before it needed to be replaced? I think their offer to pick up half the cost for the replacement is pretty fair considering normal wear would account for at least some of the damage. City miles are tougher on clutches then highway miles.

approximate 25,000 miles. I purchased this vehicle as a commuter.

That does seem like a short life for a clutch, but a lot of that depends on how you drive it and you already stated you drive mostly in the city. So I still think the 50-50 split was fair.
