False Claim

California

Two months ago my daughter had a rear end collision with another car.
No other cars were involved. No police report.

The damage was minor (could rub off paint with finger) & they both agreed that the repair would be out of pocket & the Insurance Co would not be involved.

I just received a call from the other party's insurance & their client claims that she hit another car when my daughter hit her & caused $2000
damage to the front of her car. The insurance agent told me that if we
don't pay or have our insurance pay for it they would send the bill to
a collection agency.

My position is that my daughter did not cause damage to the front of
the car & this claim is fraud. Can they send this to a collection
agency or force us to have my insurance company involved?

I do not want my insurance rates to go up due to a false claim.

All you can do is respond back with the truth. Ask them who the other driver supposedly hit. Ask them if they have spoken with this other driver. How do you know that your daughter didn't cause the vehicle to hit another vehicle? Were you there? Contact your insurance company for help.
